K-Amp circuitry features level-dependent compression (wide dynamic range compression). The type of compression used by K-Amp amplifies quiet sounds more loud sounds, while emphasizing the high frequencies. The circuit has a wide band frequency response (60-16,000 Hz), and is appropriate for a wide range of hearing losses. K-Amp is not recommended for users who previously used high power devices because compression circuits are usually perceived as being weak due to the output limiting capabilites for higher level input signals. Having fast attack and slow release time constants, the K-Amp will not cause a "pumping sensation" observed in other compression-type circuits. Instead, it introduces a short delay in processing rapidly changing signals. As the input signal level to the K-Amp increases, amplification is reduced so that lound sounds can go through the instrument without amplification.
